Do you live in China? We want to hear from you!
Ugh she’s beautiful.
Ni Hao!
While we’re not as big of a food media outlet as, say, Gourmet Magazine, we are lucky to have a modest and dedicated following, even though we don’t release zines on time or post nearly enough – we have bills and life outside of this, sorry!
But while most of our audience comes from the United States, we’ve been pleasantly surprised to learn that our second biggest audience (on some days the biggest) is actually based in China! At first we thought it was because we featured Mei Liao and Henry Roark in Radicchio Salad Zine Issue #5: Gay Summer and some of their followers there were intrigued. But we partner up with Palantir to track our engagement and metrics, and their data shows we have several unique Chinese visitors to our site every month!
First of all, we’re honored! We can’t wait for Taiwan to be a part of you one day. Second of all.. why? Do we amuse you? Are you gay?
In all seriousness, Chinese food is my (Ori’s) favorite cuisine. Some of my earliest restaurant memories are of the late, great Plum Tree Inn, and I ordered so much Chinese delivery to my house as a kid from our local Chinese restaurant that the owner knew me by name. When Chris has an important off-site somewhere and I’m home alone, the first thing I do to celebrate is order 2-3 days worth of Sichuan food which I consume instead of groceries. My favorite Sichuanese dish is Boiled Fish with Vine Pepper, even though my throat has closed up multiple times while eating it and I thought I was allergic to green Sichuan peppercorns. Guess what? You’re not supposed to eat them apparently! They’re just for flavoring. And they taste damn good.
Anyway, we figured we’d reach out to say thanks and that we’d love to know what your life is like. What do you do for work? What are your Fire Horse plans? Are you gay?
Let us know! We’d love to share with the world. radicchiosalad@gmail.com
Also huge shoutout to the rest of our international audience. From Ireland to Iran to India to Latvia, you keep us going! Even if you are the sole person in your country logging on here. For now… *mwahaha*
